He holds numerous individual exhibitions in Uruguay and abroad, highlighting those of the Museum of Modern Art of San Pablo, 1956; Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro, 1957; Ateneo Barcelonés, Barcelona, 1958; Pan American Union, Washington, 1966.

José Pedro Costigliolo was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1902. He was one of the first non-figurative painters of his country. Costigliolo was a student of Vicente Puig and Guillermo Laborde from 1921 to 1925. The artist was one of the founder of the non-figurative art group in 1952 with his wife Maria Freire. From 1957 to 1959, the artist specialized in glass stain art in Europe.
